Stiftung Warentest is celebrating its 60th anniversary this fall. To mark the occasion, WDR broadcasted a report on the foundation's work over the past decades in today's ‘Aktuelle Stunde’ program.
As part of the program, Prof. Dr Christian Thorun, Managing Director of the ConPolicy Institute, was asked to evaluate the foundation's work. He emphasized that Stiftung Warentest has made important contributions to a successful social market economy over the last six decades. On the one hand, a social market economy needs companies that manufacture high-quality products. On the other hand, consumers need not only to pay attention to price but also to quality when choosing products. To provide consumers with credible information about the price-performance ratio, Stiftung Warentest is an essential and reliable player.
Looking to the future, he emphasized that Stiftung Wartentest must ensure that the good content continues to be noticed by consumers and is taken into account in their purchasing decisions. In view of the large number of information channels (such as online advertising and social media in addition to the traditional channels) and the large number of stakeholders, Stiftung Wartentest must continue to be a reliable player.
