Internationally, consumer policy is recognized as a crucial element of a functioning market and sustainable development. However, particularly in emerging markets in developing and newly industrialized countries, basic structures for a sound foundation of efficient consumer policy are often lacking.

Together with international partners, we undertake a critical inventory of the institutional framework and highlight strengths and weaknesses to develop recommendations to strengthen consumer policy structures.

Based on our profound experience, we continue to develop the legal framework, strengthen consumer policy institutions and support the development of civil society stakeholders and consumer policy in international contexts.
