Sustainable consumption

Private consumption accounts for more than a quarter of all greenhouse gas emissions in Germany. To achieve the objectives of the international community for stabilizing greenhouse gas concentration in the atmosphere and limiting global warming to 2 degrees Celsius by 2050, changes in private consumption patterns are crucial.

Together with our corporate and political clients, we develop strategies for how sustainable consumption in Germany can be widely promoted. We explore the effects of "soft" and "hard" instruments to initiate and consolidate sustainable consumption and provide concrete implementation recommendations in different consumer areas. For this, we compile cost-benefit assessments, examine the viability in the German as well as European legal framework and survey the acceptance of the measures by consumers.
