Food and product safetyNew edition of the food warning system: New design with immediate notifications

The German Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) and the 16 German federal states have comprehensively revised their food warning system. The joint consumer protection portal lebensmittelwarnung.de publishes recalls on food, but also on cosmetic products, consumer goods, baby and children's products and tattooing products. From now on, consumers can use the new app to receive up-to-date warnings via push messages directly to their smartphone. This measure is intended to further improve food safety and facilitate access to important information.

Important novelties:

  • Improved platform: The userfriendliness oft he website lebensmittelwarnung.de has been improved so that it offers quick access to relevant information.
  • Push notifications: Consumers can receive information on recalls and warnings in real time via the new "lebensmittelwarnung.de" app.
  • Increased transparency: Cooperation with food companies is being intensified to ensure open communication.

Objective: With these innovations, the BVL aims to increase food safety and consumers protection. Updating the platform is an important step towards being able to react more quickly and efficiently to potential hazards.
