International consulting on behalf of GIZSupporting selected ASEAN countries in consumer protection

Project period:
January 2017 – May 2017

Client:
German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ)

In its Strategic Action Plan for Consumer Protection (ASAPCP) 2016-2025, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) addresses current and emerging challenges to consumer protection in South East Asia. The aim of the Action Plan is to protect consumers effectively. To this end, the necessary institutions and framework conditions in the ASEAN area are to be created and strengthened.

Within the framework of development cooperation, the International Cooperation Council (GIZ) is preparing a project to support selected ASEAN countries in implementing this action plan.

ConPolicy supported GIZ in the preparation of this project and conducted interviews with relevant stakeholders in Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia and Thailand during a two-week appraisal mission. Based on the findings obtained during this mission, proposals for suitable goals and measures for the GIZ project were prepared.
