MobilityNew survey shows: 84 percent see new mobility options as a contribution to climate protection

Today, the Digital Association Bitkom presented the results of a new survey on the topics of autonomous driving, sharing, and AI. According to the findings, a majority of respondents (84 percent) are convinced that using such services contributes to climate protection.

This representative survey was conducted by Bitkom Research on behalf of the Digital Association Bitkom. 1,003 individuals aged 16 and older in Germany were surveyed by telephone. The survey took place between calendar weeks 25 and 29 in 2023.

Further results include:

  • 57 percent believe that modes of transport such as trains, buses, and cars will mostly operate autonomously in 20 years.
  • 83 percent think that rural areas could also benefit from this development.
  • Financially and in terms of flexibility, Germans also see advantages: 74 percent believe that new mobility services are cost-effective and enhance the appeal of public transportation.
  • Nearly half (49 percent) are convinced that artificial intelligence can make the use of new mobility services more attractive by improving autonomous driving technologies and aiding in intelligent route planning.

Bitkom CEO Dr. Bernhard Rohleder commented: "Despite all technical challenges, autonomous driving is the future. Autonomous vehicles not only offer high reliability but also relieve the environment, provide more comfort, and enhance safety for passengers."
