Which aspects are particularly important to people when choosing a means of transportation? Does their actual, everyday choice of transportation match these preferences? And what would have to change in the future to ensure that the theoretically most popular means of transportation are actually used? The article addresses these questions. Possible solutions include creating opportunities to reflect on transport needs. The expansion of infrastructure for attractive alternatives to the car is also necessary in order to enable more sustainable commuter behavior.
